WHAT DOES FOURSQUARE MEAN?

The Foursquare logo represents that which is equally balanced on all sides, established and enduring. Such confidence in the power of the Gospel is also expressed in Hebrews 13:8, displayed in many Foursquare churches: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

The Foursquare symbols stand for Jesus Christ as:

		“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed.” - Isaiah 53:5
		“He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” - Matthew 8:17
		“For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit...you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” - Acts 1:5,8
		“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout…the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Our Purpose

Our purpose is based on the words of Jesus, when He was asked about the greatest commandment in scripture.

Jesus said to him, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39 (NKJV)

Everything that we do will seek to fulfill this purpose. We believe that individuals called to be a part of the EVFC family will find that this is the call that God has placed in their own lives and that they will be able to fulfill that purpose through living, growing, and serving in this body. Ultimately the “main thing” is to make disciples of all nations.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on Earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)

We believe that our church is to bring the message of Jesus Christ to the people of the Helena Valley so that they would begin and grow in a relationship with God the Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will see tens of thousands of children and adults in our valley find Jesus as a result of our ministry.

Restoration
We believe that Jesus restores people to health and wholeness in spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). This is accomplished as we nurture one another in relationships and application of the truth of God’s Word. We will see thousands restored in the Helena Valley.

Release
We believe that as a body of believers in Jesus Christ, we are to be serving the Lord, the church, and the community as we find and fulfill our God-given purpose for life, ministering the life of Jesus everywhere we go. We endeavor to train and provide opportunities and support for people of all ages and lifestyles to live out God’s purpose and call for their lives. We further believe that East Valley Foursquare Church is an equipping and training center for other churches in the Helena Valley as together we seek to equip believers for ministry. We will see hundreds released into their God-given ministry through our church.

We are growing into the image of Jesus. We want to become models of His life. To fulfill this process spiritually, we daily give ourselves to reading God’s Word, praying and worshipping. To fulfill this process practically, when the Holy Spirit prompts us, we respond in obedience and humility. His prompting may involve confession of a sin or a change in attitude or behavior. His leading may be directed toward some action on our part; therefore, only as we grow and change are we then able to assist others and be a witness for Jesus Christ.

Relationally: We are growing in healthy relationships. We recognize that the reality of family life is where we are shaped and grown in our faith and character. Because Jesus makes us whole, we can bring His wholeness into our family life at home and in the church family. God also wants us to be witnesses for Jesus in our relationships with others, that many might be saved.

Corporately: We are growing in our calling. From its inception, East Valley Foursquare Church has served as a center for outreach, healing, and training. This spiritually genetic truism codes all that we do. Not only are we interdenominational in our approach to other Christians, we are ‘integrational’ in our approach to other people. We want ALL people to come to saving knowledge of Jesus and find their place in the kingdom of God.
